I'm going to warn you - be wary of other sources on the internet telling you where to camp on Honeoye Lake - their information seems to be incorrect.
How do I know this? Because I called around and did my research.
So what's the deal?
There's actually nowhere to camp ON Honeoye Lake if you're looking to tent camp or RV.
Rent a cabin or house on the lake? Yes, sure. Camp in a tent? No.
I know you'll want to make sure to spend some time camping and enjoying the fresh air while you visit Honeoye Lake.

Short answer: No.
Some information on the web states differently, but I called the number on the Harriet Hollister Spencer Recreation Area website and was told that camping is not allowed. The recreation area closes at dusk and all visitors need to be out by dark.

I'm sometimes a 'fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants' kinda person, especially when travelling. But this is definitely a case in which you'll want to have done your homework. Getting caught camping in a no-camping area can result in a hefty fine that is totally avoidable.
There is tent and RV camping regionally that will place you within easy driving distance of Honeoye Lake and all the beauty it gives.
